Mr. Bundy Bathroom

It might be females who use bathrooms as impromptu meeting rooms, but the terrain itself remains largely manly in spirit. Men are, after all, masters of toilet humor and far more open about their bodily functions. That said, a true masculine bathroom spits directly in the face of sophomoric tradition. It’s thereby a place that exudes both maturity and sophistication, not just practicality. Guests should be able to walk in and relish the cleanliness, the decor, and even (dare we say it) the smell. To put it another way: a true masculine bathroom should tangibly reflect the male who owns it, minus his idleness and his instincts for tacky fart jokes. No materials spell manhood quite like quality wood and metal, and a great masculine bathroom presents endless opportunities to use both. Blend them together for a vibe that’s part industrial and part rustic. Or utilize them sparingly to provide brilliant artisanal touches to an otherwise strictly modern setting.

A small cozy urban masculine apartment, with a strong modern edge, has interesting décor details to explore. Thanks to a dark color palette and sparkling insertions, a luxurious feel is established. The apartment offers an open plan exposition of kitchen and living room arrangement with a small reading corner. Large panoramic windows offer an urban view and abundance of natural light, while floor-to-ceiling curtains give a rich textural touch and secure privacy. In this way free flow of light, spacious feel and openness can be alternated with cozy and snugly enclosure. Warm, dark and masculine color selection composes the design – from the chocolate beige of the curtains to the grey of the couch and the dark heavy woods form the floor and walls. Intriguing lighting installations and trendy lamps combined with brass and dark metal, add to the luxurious vibe of the place. The dressing separated from the bedroom by a trendy glass wall, with thin black framing, is stylish and elegant. A beautiful graphic painting on one of the walls gives character and artistic touch to the arrangement.

The classic Scandinavian design place functionality above aesthetics and keep color to a bare minim. In fact, minimalism is an inherent feature of this style. Elegant, simple and beautiful; the unassuming charm of Scandinavian style draws us all in instantly. But over time, creative designers and homeowners have cleverly combined other styles with the Scandinavian one. One amazing thing about the Scandinavian style is the neutral backdrop that they offer, making it possible for you to decorate with statement pieces and sculptural additions in a truly exquisite fashion. Color is a great way of doing this and once the accent hue has run its course, you can switch it out for another seasonal hotshot. For this project we got a step further and add some character via furniture and décor, such as the pattern leather wall with warm light, oversize pouf and modern metal pendant light. Well-styled Scandinavian rooms contrast the straight lines in bookshelves, desk and dressing, with organic curved lines. We considered bringing the outdoor in, not only by the oversized window but also by the oversized plant. A tall framed artwork adds height alongside smaller vases and other objects grouped together in a way that appears curated, […]

Chocolate Fantasy

For this project we’ve been task to transform a small simple room that previously was used as a small home office, into a comfortable airy bedroom with lots of storage for different people that might spend the night over. Even though this design was not made for a specific person, we decide to give it a little personality and character so that everybody feels like home. The theme of the project, as the name implies, is chocolate or even better than that, a fantasy about chocolate, a CHOCOLATE FANTESY  if you will. So we focused on one specific feeling that the client had in mind, one of the things that shaped her childhood, one of the things that will forever remain with her, the little cake shop at the end of her street and the smell of fresh chocolate early in the mornings. Being a bedroom after all, we had to keep the “sugar” level down (and by sugar we mean the mixture of colors, textures and materials that gives you that level of energy and intensity, much as the sugar in chocolate does) and make sure we don’t let ourselves carried away. So besides the overall color scheme, […]
